The studio conundrum
As a child, the studio was fully equipped, orderly and ready for anything.
As an adult in Brooklyn, I have never had a proper space. I had a bedroom/studio, or studio/storage space. We called it the “art area”, but you usually had to move stuff out of the way to even find enough space on the floor. There are so many beautiful studios, but I just want one that works. This is a problem of false starts and prioritizing compromise over pleasure and ease of use. Come January I am going to fix this.
